About the role

A SCADA Engineer at TasNetworks plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing Network Operations’ real time systems, to ensure the effectiveness and ongoing operation of our main SCADA, DMS and EMS platform, and to meet TasNetworks operational, regulatory and compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will proactively identify, diagnose, and rectify system issues, provide expert advice on real-time systems, and support our Network Operations' Control Systems capital works program.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of operational applications, including SCADA, Energy Management System, Distribution Management System, load shedding, voltage control schemes, and protection/control schemes.
  • Assist in planning and conducting routine audits.
  • Manage system configurations, version control, and patch management, including outage planning and coordination.
  • Commission assets into real-time systems to support capital works and other projects.
  • Remain at the forefront of industry and technology trends to advise on strategic opportunities

About you

As a dynamic, detail focussed person, you will bring an applied knowledge of electricity network utility infrastructure, operations and power systems concepts with real time or SCADA systems experience relevant to the Electricity Supply Industry.

You will hold a degree in Engineering and/or relevant industry experience, with a willingness to adapt to different situations and operate effectively in a continuously changing environment.

You will demonstrate a high level of initiative and knowledge in contemporary computer, storage, network and virtualisation infrastructure, with experience in developing C, C++ or C#.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated performance in roles requiring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to solve problems and the capacity to convey informed decisions in an effective manner.
